Janny Tansil, President

Janny Gabrielson Tansil is a native of Minnesota , attended law school in Colorado , and moved to California in 1986. She and her husband, Mark Tansil, a Sonoma County Superior Court Judge, and their two daughters, Carly and Shelby, moved to Sebastopol from Santa Rosa in 2000. Carly is now at UC Santa Barbara and Shelby is a junior at Analy. Janny is a partner in Spaulding McCullough & Tansil, specializing in all aspects of employment law. She represents dozens of non-profit organizations, advising them on employment issues and non-profit Board governance matters. She is a member of the Sonoma County Women in Law, and has served on the boards of directors of the United Way (1991-2000), PASCO (1996-2000), Brush Creek Nursery School (1997-2002), Twin Hills Education Foundation (2000-2001), and the REACH Parent Foundation (2001- 2008). She taught Leadership classes to 7th and 8th graders at REACH for three years. Janny is committed to continuing and advancing high-quality creative and sustainable academic, artistic and community-building programs at Analy for the benefit of each student and our future world community.

Joan Maxwell, Treasurer

Joan was born and raised in San Francisco. She attended Mercy High School in San Francisco, received her Bachelors Degree in Managerial Economics from UC Davis and then went on to receive her MBA from San Francisco State University. After working for KPMG Peat Marwick in San Francisco, she obtained her CPA and finally moved to live the good life (and enjoy the warm weather) in Sonoma County in 1990. Soon after moving north she obtained her first job in the wine industry as a temporary staff accountant for Glen Ellen Winery (now Benziger Family Winery). She now works as the CFO for Paul Hobbs Wines, located in Sebastopol. Joan’s previous volunteer experience includes 6 years as a volunteer Girl Scout leader and 4 years on the Oak Grove Education Foundation board; 3 years as treasurer and 1 year as president. Joan enjoys hiking, kayaking, and reading and loves to travel and go camping with her family and friends. She and her husband Randy, a computer programmer for a winery software company, live in west Santa Rosa with their daughter Michelle, who is a junior at Analy.

John Hervey, Vice President

John Hervey, a native Californian moved to Sonoma County in 1982 to farm grapes after receiving an Ag Management degree from Cal Poly and farming in Central California. Realizing he also had a gift for working with children he obtained his Teaching Credential from Sonoma State University in 1989 and has been teaching and farming ever since. Twelve and half years ago he and his wife Linda purchased a farm in Sebastopol where they have established a Pinot Noir vineyard. His daughter Gina is a sophmore at Analy and they both enjoy skiing in winter, and kayaking many fine rivers, creeks and bays in the summer as well as backpacking.

Dan Mayer, Member At Large

Originally from Marin County, Dan made the move north to Petaluma in 1985 and then on to Sebastopol by 2004. For the last six years he and his wife Peggy have thoroughly enjoyed West County with all its beauty and diversity. Their son Zachary graduated from Analy last year and now attends the University of Puget Sound. Daughter Bella, is a Junior and actively involved in leadership, athletics and yearbook. Dan is a graduate of UC Berkeley with a BA in Economics. While living in Petaluma Dan was a Board member with the Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce. Today he serves on the Board of Directors for First Federal Savings and Loan in San Rafael. With decades of experience in specialty retail, he is a former President of the since departed Marin Outdoors. For ten years Dan worked as Sales and Marketing Manager for an international designer and distributor of hand woven area rugs, made in Nepal. Dan is now a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, here in Sebastopol.

Gordon Shimizu, Funding Chair

Gordon moved to Sebastopol from the SF bay area in 1973. He taught Electronic Shop at Santa Rosa High School from 1972 to 1979, and then taught at Santa Rosa Junior College in the Electronic Technology Department from 1979 to 1989. During Fall of 1989, he created a remedial math program at SRJC then known as the Applied Computation Skills Department. In 1990, this department merged with the Basic Skills Department (remedial English) to form the current College Skills Department. Gordon retired from full time employment at SRJC in 2003; currently, he is an adjunct faculty member for the College Skills Department at SRJC. Gordon and his wife, Michi, have a son, Trevor, who is a 1996 graduate of Analy and a graduate of the Art Institute of San Francisco. Their daughter, Mai, is a senior at Analy. Gordon finds it an honor and privilege to be associated with our outstanding educational community of dedicated faculty, administration, staff, and committed parents of our students at this distinguished high school.

Mike Sullivan, Member at Large

Mike Sullivan is a California native, having grown up in Oakland, attended college at UC San Diego and received his MBA from UC Berkeley. Mike and his wife, Gail, met at UC Berkeley. Mike is a Senior Vice President with Wells Fargo Bank in the Global Financial Institutions Group. Prior to that he managed Wells Fargo’s North Coast Regional Commercial Banking Office in Santa Rosa for twelve years. Gail is a self-employed computer programmer and is active with the Analy Boosters. The family moved to Sebastopol in 1996. Daughter Claire is a senior at Analy, while Julia is a 7th grader at Twin Hills Middle School. Mike is a board member of Sonoma State's Academic Foundation, a board member of the Sonoma Mountain Business Cluster, past-Chairman of the Board of the United Way of Sonoma-Mendocino-Lake, and a past member of the Sonoma State University’s Wine Business Education Program executive committee. Mike has also been a St. Sebastian's CYO basketball coach for nine years.

Randi Rossmann Thomas, Member at Large

Randi Rossmann Thomas lives in the west county community of Graton with her husband Rick, and two children. Son Jackson is a senior at Analy where he has benefited from participating in the debate team, honor choir, track and soccer teams. Daughter Mackenzie is an eighth grader and will attend Analy in the fall as a freshman. Rossmann is a native of Santa Cruz but moved to Santa Rosa as a toddler and has made Sonoma County her home base ever since. She graduated from Piner High School in Santa Rosa, Santa Rosa Junior College and Chico State University with a BA in Journalism. She returned to Santa Rosa where she worked at KSRO radio in Santa Rosa as a reporter briefly before being hired in 1981 as a reporter at the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. Her almost 30-year career at the paper as a news reporter has included a role as the Press Democrat's first female police reporter featuring experiences as lead reporter on the 1989 Ramon Salcido homicides and the 1993 Polly Klaas kidnapping and homicide. Rossmann currently covers breaking news for the P.D. Website and newspaper. She and her family have strong ties to Lake Tahoe and frequently head there for vacations.

Edy Ullman, Communications Chair

Edy Ullman lives in the middle of an apple orchard with her husband, Bruce Gorden, a retired CAL FIRE Captain, and her sons, Max Gorden and Yichen Wang, both seniors at Analy High School. In 1980, Edy began her career as a firefighter for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and retired as a Battalion Chief this past December. Edy holds a BA in Psychology/Linguistics from Dartmouth College, a JD from Boalt Hall School of Law, UC Berkeley, and an AS in Fire Technology from Santa Rosa Junior College. Edy is pleased to be a member of this committed group of parents and help continue to “make a difference” for the students of Analy High School.

Bodil Wibe, Fundraising Chair

Bodil Wibe was born and raised in Norway. She came to Sonoma County in 1991, after meeting her husband Marc Lepp in Europe. Bodil obtained her college degree as a physical therapist in Oslo, Norway. She got her California PT license in 1993, and is now working as an independent contractor in the Sonoma county school system. Her son Isak attends Santa Rosa Junior College, and her son Ruben is at Analy. Bodil gained fund raising experience during the years her children were students at the Sebastopol Independent Charter School. The Wibe Lepp family enjoys traveling, and a variety of outdoors activities. Bodil is an avid runner (loves steep hills), reads novels and fashion magazines whenever she has an opportunity, and when inspired, knits.
