Board of Directors

AHSEF welcomes two new Board Members! Thank you to Eileen Brooker and John Hervey for volunteering their time and energy to Analy High School.

Ron Larson Chair
Ron Larson and his family moved to Sebastopol from Minnesota in 2002. His wife Diane Davis, coordinates the West County Coalition for Alcohol and Drug-Free Youth, and is a member of the Teen Counseling Project Steering Committee. Their two children are Zoe Davis, a junior at Analy, and Kai Davis who is in the seventh grade at the Sebastopol Charter School. Ron owns a renovation and home repair business based in Sebastopol. Ron’s first career was in the performing arts for twenty years. He began performing and teaching music as a junior in high school. As a classically trained trombone, baritone and tuba player he performed with the Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Opera, Children’s Theater of Minneapolis, Bob Hope, Leonard Slatkin, Les Brown, Gordan MacRae and Phillip Brunelle. He directed and performed with New World Brass, Barbecue Brass and the St. Anthony Brass Quintet. Ron has taught private music lessons to more than 300 youth and adult students. Ron has also directed numerous marching, jazz and concert bands and orchestras. You can listen to his radio show ‘Jazzology’ on 107.3 FM or streaming live (KOWS.FM) Wednesdays 9-10:30pm. Ron is pleased to have the opportunity to support the Foundation’s mission at Analy.

Janny Tansil Vice Chair
Janny Gabrielson Tansil is a native of Minnesota , attended law school in Colorado , and moved to California in 1986. She and her husband, Mark Tansil, a Sonoma County Superior Court Judge, and their two daughters, Carly and Shelby, moved to Sebastopol from Santa Rosa in 2000. Both girls attended REACH Creative Arts magnet program and now attend Analy, where Carly is a senior and Shelby is a sophomore. Janny is a partner in Spaulding McCullough & Tansil, specializing in all aspects of employment law. She represents dozens of non-profit organizations, advising them on employment issues and non-profit Board governance matters. She is a member of the Sonoma County Women in Law, and has served on the boards of directors of the United Way (1991-2000), PASCO (1996-2000), Brush Creek Nursery School (1997-2002), Twin Hills Education Foundation (2000-2001), and the REACH Parent Foundation (2001- 2008). She taught Leadership classes to 7th and 8th graders at REACH for three years. Janny is committed to continuing and advancing high-quality creative and sustainable academic, artistic and community-building programs at Analy for the benefit of each student and our future world community.

Joan Maxwell Treasurer
Joan was born and raised in San Francisco. She attended Mercy High School in San Francisco, received her Bachelors Degree in Managerial Economics from UC Davis and then went on to receive her MBA from San Francisco State University. After working for KPMG Peat Marwick in San Francisco, she obtained her CPA and finally moved to live the good life (and enjoy the warm weather) in Sonoma County in 1990. Soon after moving north she obtained her first job in the wine industry as a temporary staff accountant for Glen Ellen Winery (now Benziger Family Winery). She now works as the Controller for Paul Hobbs Wines, located in Sebastopol. Joan’s previous volunteer experience includes 6 years as a volunteer Girl Scout leader and 4 years on the Oak Grove Education Foundation board; 3 years as treasurer and 1 year as president. Joan enjoys hiking, kayaking, and reading and loves to travel and go camping with her family and friends. She and her husband Randy, a computer programmer for a winery software company, live in west Santa Rosa with their daughter Michelle, who is a sophomore at Analy.

Molly Matheson Recording Secretary
Molly Matheson is a Librarian at the SRJC, Petaluma Campus, where she also teaches an information literacy class. A confessed fabricaholic and quilter, Molly also enjoys cooking and working in her garden. Molly and her husband Dan Schurman are parents of two daughters Emma, a 2006 graduate of Analy who currently attends Bard College in New Yrok and Michaela, an Analy senior.

Cyndie Morozumi Recording Secretary
Cyndie and her family - husband pharmacist John, daughter Corinne,who is a biology major at UC Santa Cruz, and Analy senior Kalene - have been residents of Sebastopol since 1989. Relocating to Northern California from San Diego, CA brought them closer to family, friends and the great sea life of the North Coast. Cyndie has been involved in education for the last 28 years as a counselor in the Student Affairs world of Higher Education and since 1989 has worked at Sonoma State University. Her current responsibilities include overseeing the on-campus residential community of 2400 students. Cyndie was active in Apple Blossom/Twin Hills PTA and the Sebastopol World Friends. Outside of work you will find Cyndie at any number of youth sporting events, both at Analy and SSU. While daughter Kalene is active in both the music program and sports you will find Cyndie also watching soccer, basketball and volleyball. In their away time, you will find the Morozumi family enjoying their trailer at Dillon Beach with dog Oreo, or on a tropical beach.

John Hervey Member at Large
John Hervey, a native Californian moved to Sonoma County in 1982 to farm grapes after receiving an Ag Management degree from Cal Poly and farming in Central California. Realizing he also had a gift for working with children he obtained his Teaching Credential from Sonoma State University in 1989 and has been teaching and farming ever since. Twelve and half years ago he and his wife Linda purchased a farm in Sebastopol where they have established a Pinot Noir vineyard. His daughter Gina is a freshman at Analy and they both enjoy skiing in winter, and kayaking many fine rivers, creeks and bays in the summer as well as backpacking.

Julie Kawahara Member at Large
Julie Kawahara, originally a mid-western girl raised in Illinois, moved to San Francisco in 1985. With a degree in Community Health Education, she worked for the San Francisco Health Department and spent the next 20+ years developing a career in program and organizational development for health and human services. Currently, she is an independent consultant with clients such as Sonoma County Department of Health Services, State of California Office of Adoptions, Sonoma State University, Santa Rosa Junior College, Redwood Community Health Coalitions, Napa Wine Auction, The North Bay Employment Connection and most recently the California Health Alliance. Julie has been a past board member for the Twin Hills site council, REACH Parent Foundation, Asian Women's Shelter, and Outer Voices. She has lived in Sebastopol for 12 years with her two children, Cameron,a junior and Kiyomi, a sophomore, both at Analy High. The family enjoys music, skiing/snowboarding, traveling, sports, and their rich and wonderful friendships in Sebastopol!

Dan Mayer Member At Large
Originally from Marin County, Dan made the move north to Petaluma in 1985 and then on to Sebastopol by 2004. For the last five years he and his wife Peggy have thoroughly enjoyed West County with all its beauty and diversity. Their son Zachary, a senior and daughter Bella, a sophomore, are both Analy students. Dan is a graduate of UC Berkeley with a BA in Economics. While living in Petaluma Dan was a Board member with the Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce. Today he serves on the Board of Directors for First Federal Savings and Loan in San Rafael. With decades of experience in specialty retail, he is a former President of the since departed Marin Outdoors. For the last ten years Dan has worked as Sales and Marketing Manager for an international designer and distributor of hand woven area rugs, made in Nepal.

Gordon Shimizu Member at Large
Gordon moved to Sebastopol from the SF bay area in 1973. He taught Electronic Shop at Santa Rosa High School from 1972 to 1979, and then taught at Santa Rosa Junior College in the Electronic Technology Department from 1979 to 1989. During Fall of 1989, he created a remedial math program at SRJC then known as the Applied Computation Skills Department. In 1990, this department merged with the Basic Skills Department (remedial English) to form the current College Skills Department. Gordon retired from full time employment at SRJC in 2003; currently, he is an adjunct faculty member for the College Skills Department at SRJC. Gordon and his wife, Michi, have a son, Trevor, who is a 1996 graduate of Analy and a graduate of the Art Institute of San Francisco. Their daughter, Mai, is a junior at Analy. Gordon finds it an honor and privilege to be associated with our outstanding educational community of dedicated faculty, administration, staff, and committed parents of our students at this distinguished high school.

Lynne Tripathi Member at Large
Lynne Tripathi has a busy career at Kaiser Permanente, Santa Rosa, as a sleep medicine case manager. She has lived in Sebastopol for the past 30 years with her husband, Todd Parker and their two children Kendall and Tynan. Tynan is now junior at Analy and Kendall, an Analy graduate, recently graduated from Scripps Women’s College. In addition to her active professional life, Lynne has for many years been vitally involved in volunteer activities supporting education, in particular the performing arts. She is dedicated to the goal of creating opportunities for students to explore their academic and creative potentials. On days off, Lynne can be found spending time in the outdoors with her family. She enjoys a good cup of coffee, gardening, cooking and knitting while listening to her husband Todd, an accomplished composer and songwriter play the piano.

Edy Ullman Member at Large
Edy Ullman lives in the middle of an apple orchard with her husband, Bruce Gorden, a retired CAL FIRE Captain, and her son, Max Gorden, a junior at Analy High School. Since 1980, Edy has served as a firefighter for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and is currently a Battalion Chief headquartered in Santa Rosa. Edy holds a BA in Psychology/Linguistics from Dartmouth College, a JD from Boalt Hall School of Law, UC Berkeley, and an AS in Fire Technology from Santa Rosa Junior College. Edy is pleased to join this committed group of parents and help continue to “make a difference” for the students of Analy High School.

Carey Caccavo Wheaton Member at Large
Carey Caccavo Wheaton was raised in New York by a public school educator and school psychologist. Earning a BA (Amherst College), and MSW (Simmons), Carey worked in various school, hospital, and youth clinic settings in Massachusetts, especially enjoying school settings. She was also certified in massage and Reiki healing. With her husband Jim, (programmer, bass player, inventor), she moved to Marin in 1988 to pursue social work, art, music, nutrition, healing, and parenting. Moving north in 2001, Carey became an active volunteer (music, art, writing, fundraising) at Sebastopol Independent Charter School, a Waldorf methods public charter. She is a board member of Analy Bandwagon, a guest writer for Sonoma West Times, a singer-songwriter, and an activist with various causes, including Organizing For America. Carey is the grateful mother of Gabriel (junior, Analy) and Athena (8th grade, SICS). She is honored to be joining the Foundation!

Bodil Wibe Member at Large
Bodil Wibe was born and raised in Norway. She came to Sonoma County in 1991, after meeting her husband Marc Lepp in Europe. Bodil obtained her college degree as a physical therapist in Oslo, Norway. She got her California PT license in 1993, and is now working as an independent contractor in the Sonoma county school system. Her son Isak is a senior at Analy, and her son Ruben is in 8th grade. Bodil gained fund raising experience during the years her children were students at the Sebastopol Independent Charter School. The Wibe Lepp family enjoys traveling, and a variety of outdoors activities. Bodil is an avid runner (loves steep hills), reads novels and fashion magazines whenever she has an opportunity, and when inspired, knits.
